Lately I've noticed a few things that have given birth to wonderment. Todays blog will focus on this....
Smooth Jazz (You must read this in your best D.J./Barry White voice. If you do not, you must immediately leave my blog.)
I think I was in a doctors office the other day waiting and making conversation with the beauty that is my wife. At some point during the conversation, my ears picked up on the fact that lead saxophone, slap bass and subtle keyboard sounds, were all of a sudden coming to the forefront and taking over. I thought to myself "Who in their right mind listens to Smooth Jazz, and why is it always such a popular choice among waiting room culture?"
Then it hit me.
Smooth Jazz is safe. No one ever exclaims, "Turn that Smooth Jazz down!! I'm so annoyed with the Smooth Jazz in my ear." The Rock n Roll music could fit with this proclamation and so could the Hip Hops music. The heart of Smooth Jazz is to soothe, and to tell you the truth, as I sat there continuing to listen I couldn't help but enjoy myself a little bit, with the slight temptation to get up and show off a few moves.
In addition, I found a Smooth Jazz station on the radio dial the other day. I even got to hear the #1 Smooth Jazz song in the nation. I never knew such a thing existed.
Long live Smooth Jazz people, and the next time it invades, let it in, and let the groove take over.
These guys know what I'm talkin about
